Till today, I know to say with a perfect English accent the sentence: „Radio Luxembourg, your Station of the Stars.“

In the beginning of the 60s, when President Novotný was sitting in the Prague Castle, ensuring citizens on May 1st every year that there will be meat and that there will be flats, and TV broadcasted about the harvest and news about the milk yield of cows, many of us were searching for new information resources. In politics, it was Free Europe and in music it was Radio Luxembourg.

It was possible to catch Radio Luxembourg even on an old Philips radio relatively easily. It was more difficult with Free Europe. Although some ingenious Czechs discovered found that paradoxically on Russian transistors, frequencies were not jammed. And so Radio Luxembourg was with us until 1989. Till today, I know to say with a perfect English accent: „Radio Luxembourg, your Station of the Stars”.
